THE RESULTS ARE IN: Shelby County voting was snafu’d by early problems with voting machines. Morning calls for an investigation. Despite predictions, the glitches don’t seem to be leading to calls for recounts. Shelby wasn’t the only County with that problem. A pre-election day report on US Rep. Steve Cohen and challenger Willie Herenton. An Associated Press report focused explicitly on the race element. US Rep. Chief Deputy Bill Oldham steps up to the Sheriff’s office. Failed sheriff’s candidate, and Democrat, Randy Wade isn’t conceding his loss.

Murderous Heat: Three more Shelby County deaths attributed to the heat, bringing the year’s total to 13.
