Let the Dominos Fall

State Senator Curtis Person announced today that he will not seek re-election for his State Senate position. Though Senator Person cited a desire to “spend-more-time-with-his-family,” rumor has it he will seek the Juvenile Court Judge position that will soon be vacated by a rumored-to-be-retiring Kenneth Turner.

So where does this leave the State Senate? A number of candidates are believed to already be in the hunt for the open Senate seat, including State Representative Paul Stanley, lawyer Larry Parrish, Shelby County School Board Chairman David Pickler and former State Representative Larry Scroggs. Suddenly, this Senate race becomes the most heated conservative campaign in Shelby County this year.

Of the four rumored names, the most interesting and seemingly decided candidate to run is conservative State Representative Paul Stanley, whose vying for State Senate opens his spot on the legislature in a very conservative district.
