STANLEY RESIGNS! State Senator Paul Stanley announced his retirement from the Senate, effective August 10. More from Fox13 and again, WMC, Eyewitness News, WREG, the Daily News and the Commercial Appeal. Also, earlier in the day, the AP published a hint of his resignation. State Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris had also asked him to resign; the CA also has this.

But, will the Shelby County Commission get up to the same shenanigans as with the Ron Lillard / Matt Kuhn powerplay, if they have to appoint a replacement for a Republican House member who wins Stanley’s old seat? What happens next.

A story about a trip by Stanley this month to an American Legislative Exchange Council in Atlanta, relating odd behavior. Were there other affairs in his past?
