DeSoto County: The Board of Aldermen for Horn Lake fired to probationary employees and hired a new deputy city clerk.

Millington: A recent trip to a Tennessee Municipal League conference by City elected officials opened some eyes and taught some lessons.

Business: International Paper is increasing their adherence to a stewardship council program to help businesses meet sustainability demands. Wal-Mart is attempting to build up repeat customers.

Survey Says: Smaller manufacturers expect the recession to end in 2010. Home prices are still falling, but at a slower rate; and home sales rose for the second straight month in May, although the rise was less than expected. American CEOs still watchful for the recession’s ripple effects. The Mortgage Bankers Association has lowered its forecast for loan originations this year.


Chick-fil-A: They will give a free meal to customers on July 10 … if you are wearing a cow costume!


Tennessee: Mass layoff events jumped in May. A massive Federal loan to Nissan could bring as many as 1000 jobs to the State; more in the CA. Two of the world’s ten fastest supercomputers are in Tennessee! The State now has an new system that will let charities register online; many charities need to renew their applications ASAP.
