Heat Advisory: A heat advisory continues through tonight. More heat warnings from Fox13. Stagnant, warm pools of water breed mosquitoes, which can transmit the West Nile virus. Pet owners, watch for the dangers of canine heat stroke. Today is another Code Orange Ozone Alert day for MATA busses — 25 cent fares all day!


Cohen v. Herenton: The Daily News looks at the differing endorsement strategies the campaigns have used in past elections. The Flyer’s Jackson Baker reports on Willie Herenton’s press conference Tuesday. Mediaverse examines the benefits and effects of the Obama endorsement for Cohen. Shelby County Sheriff’s Race: Republican candidate Bill Oldham has resigned as Chief Deputy in the Sheriff’s office after learning of a civil complaint about violations of the Hatch Act. Downtown: The guest speaker for the Center City Commission luncheon next week will be former Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin.

Republican candidate Alan Nunnelee is outraising incumbent Democrat Travis Childers in the US First Congressional District, though Childers has more on hand.

University of Memphis: The Humphreys School of Law will create a scholarship honoring E. James “Jim” House Jr, thanks to Evolve Bank & Trust.


Business: International Paper is relocating its Memphis recycling plant, for easier access and expansion. Jim’’s Place East is moving and will be a little less East. Those jobs being lost at Cummins are headed to Mexico; more from Fox13.

Eighth Congressional District Race: Republican candidate Dr Ron Kirkland has released his “Agenda for America”. At a forum for Republican and independent candidates on Tuesday, all talked self-imposed term limits.


The Wharton Administration: Mayor A C Wharton and his Strategic Assessment Committee are promising to revamp City government.


Arkansas: Senator Blanche Lincoln has $1.9 million in her campaign’s account. Graphic photos of the car bomb’s results will be shown in the trial of Dr Randeep Mann.


Morgan Keegan: They have kept their standing as one of the nation’s premier underwriters of municipal bonds.


Mississippi: The US Department of Homeland Security is giving the State $100 million for a communications system. A suit is trying to remove the “personhood” referendum from the 2011 ballot. A growing population of deer around Oxford may be addressed by hunters with bows and arrows.


Politics: Mid-South Tea Partiers blistered the NAACP resolution calling them “racists”. The TN Democratic Party will have its Jackson Day event on July 16. Al Gore has been added as a featured speaker. Police were called to the Rutherford County Democratic Party offices when the chairman, Jonathan Fagan, and a candidate got into an altercation. State House Democratic Caucus Leader Mike Turner says illegal immigrants are working on the new convention center in Nashville.


Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center: Providing shelter for teens struggling with gay issues is what the Y.E.S. Program is about.


Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis: Purple Ant is leading a donation-matching event today in the TweetForHabitat campaign.
