The Main Street Journal, WMC Channel 5, the League of Women Voters & Opera Memphis are proud to announce the first Memphis Mayoral Debate taking place at Opera Memphis on Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 PM. This, the first debate between the nearly dozen candidates, will last 90 minutes and will be broadcast live on WMC Channel 5. (Please note: the actual debate at Opera Memphis is invitation only and not open to the public).

Moderators for the debate are Action News 5’s Joe Birch & Ursula Madden. Panelists include Jonathan Lindberg, Publisher of Main Street Journal; Jackson Baker, Senior Editor for the Memphis Flyer; and Wendi C. Thomas, columnist for Commercial Appeal.

Expect a lightning quick debate with targeted quick-answer questions for the candidates along with a series of yes/no questions. Community questions will be fed in throughout the debate.
