Holiday Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Schedule
For Independence Day Holiday
which will be observed
Friday, July 3rd
Memphis residents serviced by City of Memphis Solid Waste Management
collection crews, whose collection day is FRIDAY (July 3), will receive
garbage and recycling collection on THURSDAY (July 2nd). Collection of
yard debris, trash and bulky items, placed outside garbage carts, will
be very limited.
Residents of Berryhill, Cordova, Countrywood, Hickory Hill and mobile
home communities, serviced by City contractors All Star Waste Systems
and Waste Connections will not be affected by the holiday; however,
trash and yard debris will be limited. SEE BELOW
FOR RESIDENTS OF COUNTRYWOOD, CORDOVA, BERRYHILL AND HICKORY HILL AND
HILLSHIRE
Some of you may have experienced a collection day change effective this
week. Collection day notices were placed on the front doors of all
homes by All Star Waste Systems last week (June 22 - 26) and collection
day stickers are being placed on the lids of all garbage carts this week
after servicing. As explained in the notices, garbage carts will be
emptied by one-man, fully- automated trucks which utilize mechanical
“arms” to reach, grasp, and empty the carts into the trucks.
Please place your city issued cart at the curb with the handle and wheel
side of the cart facing the house (not street) and 8 feet away from
mailboxes, poles and piles of yard debris etc. If not turned properly
it delays collections for all other homes on your route and if not
placed away from other objects, including trash and piles, damage to the
cart or truck is possible.
Recycling collection will not change; therefore, so please continue to
recycle.
City of Memphis Solid Waste Management crews will provide collection of
waste material placed outside the cart, such as yard debris, bulky items
and trash. However, trash collection will be limited this week only.
With administrative oversight responsibility, City of Memphis Solid
Waste Management assures all residents that quality services will
continue. All Star is an established local commercial and residential
solid waste hauler with extensive municipal service experience and we
respectfully ask for your patience and cooperation during this
transition period.
Following Independence Day, the next City observed holiday is Labor
Day, Monday, September 7th. Watch for notices on carts the week before.
