(Nashville) Leaders of the state’s oldest and largest pro-life organization applauded
Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey and fellow legislators for commitments to move a key proposal
forward this session.
“Lt. Governor Ramsey deserves great credit for his principled leadership as do Senators
Johnson, Black and Rep. Hensley,” said Brian Harris, president of Tennessee Right
to Life. “Each of these elected officials stood on Wednesday to protect vulnerable
women, children and families who must seek quality care at state expense,” said
Harris.
“Events of recent days prove that Planned Parenthood has abused the trust of Tennessee
taxpayers and has violated Tennessee law on the reporting of statutory rape and
suspected child abuse. Quite simply, Planned Parenthood is not entitled to an
endless flow of tax payer’s hard earned money,” Harris said.
“Abortion aside, every legislator ought to vote in support of this fair and evenhanded
approach to distributing these important health care dollars,” Harris added.
