Theatre Memphis to run The Amazing Raise

This Saturday, April, 25, 2009, Theatre Memphis will be conducting a unique and entertaining event to sell subscriptions to the newly announced 2009-10 season which debuts in August, 2009. The Amazing Raise. Our Theatre. Our Town. is an effort to reach out to the volunteers, friends and fans of the theatre to create a contest that will offer discounted subscriptions, additional tickets and a chance to win prizes when sales goals are met.

Theatre Memphis has engaged its board of directors and staff to recruit individuals and teams to compete over a two week period to sell $100 season subscriptions that will include seven tickets that can be used on any eligible performance in the 2009-10 season. The regular price is $115 for six anytime tickets and the discount is good for a limited time through May 6, 2009, to new subscribers. The rally day on April 25th is to encourage the groups to meet and collectively sell subscriptions through their contacts, to single ticket purchasers and lapsed subscribers, to retail outlets as employee incentives and any other creative way , including a phone bank set up at the theatre. There are cash prizes (up to $500) and other incentives such as Ipod shuffles and a preview performance party that will be awarded to individuals or teams who meet goals and exceed other competitors. The sales race will continue through May 6th for grand prizes awarded to those who have sold the most new subscriptions and to those who have raised the most money through that date. Tax-deductible contributions will also be legitimate donations that will be included in competing totals. The winners’ ceremony will be held at a preview performance of Our Town on May 6 which opens to the public May 8, 2009.

The Amazing Raise itself will be kicked off at 10am, this Saturday and will run through 4pm when all funds must be tallied to be eligible for the day’s prizes. There will be “Short Cuts” available to participants who meet early goals in the day in the form of donated corporate and private funds that can be collected at retail outlets whose amount will be added to the individual or team totals. The objective of the day is to raise Theatre Memphis awareness, the subscription base and donations for the artistic endeavors of Theatre Memphis. The Theatre Memphis season for 2009-10 includes:
The Sound of Music, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Souvenir, Fallen Angels, La Cage aux Folles, Driving Miss Daisy, Forbidden Broadway, Buffalo Gal and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. A Christmas Carol and Holiday Cabaret are scheduled as well but are not part of the season subscription.
